About
Aurora Vigil-Escalera Art Gallery was born in 2015 as a continuation of Van Dyck, a space that led the Asturian art sphere and dedicated itself to the Spanish avant-garde for 30 years. The gallery’s director brings the passion, knowledge and experience gathered from all those years, as well as the cult to the great masters, working with Juan Genovés, Luis Gordillo, Rafael Canogar, Francisco Farreras, Martin Chirino and Luis Feito among others, and opens an entire new line of representation based on international and innovative contemporary artists. These two avenues of work compliment each other fully, giving the gallery and its multidisciplinary projects the legitimation to back up the creations of young up-and-coming artists that are gaining more and more visibility and recognition through our exhibitions and international fairs such as Ismael Lagares, Ana Barriga, Pablo Armesto, Rosa Brun, Rafa Macarrón and David Rodríguez Caballero.
From our headquarters in Asturias, an exclusive showroom in the center of Madrid and a growing online presence, we center our efforts on promoting all artistic manifestations: painting, sculpture, videoart, installation, performance and photography, highlighted by the National Prizes Chema Madoz, Isabel Muñoz and Dionisio González, as well as the young Cuban artist Alejandra Glez newest recipient for the Enaire Foundation Price.
With an emphasis on new languages and aesthetic currents, our artists promote conversations around sustanibility and the over-exploitation of our resources, the relationship between society, class and urbanism, and feminism and gender violence.
