Alberto Burri was born in Città di Castello, Perugia, on March 12, 1915. After studying medicine at the University of Perugia, he worked as a medical officer during the war. Taken prisoner by the allies in 1943, he is transferred to the prison camp of Hereford, Texas, where he begins to paint.he is considered one of the most important artists of the informal trend that spread internationally after the Second World War.
