"For me, painting is almost an escape.
I want to escape from everything, from my relationship with people, from what I have to do today. When I'm painting, I feel like I'm in my own world, which is very comforting.
I don't have to think about anything else, and I can forget about things I don't want to remember.
My motifs are mainly people, but I don't want to create so-called beauty paintings.
I am more interested in the ugliness of people and their inner feelings than in their physical beauty. I like raw expressions and many other things that cannot be expressed by other motifs.
Most of the images on social networking sites these days have been processed in a stylish way.
I often see images that have been filtered so much that the shadows have been smoothed out, or the original colors and forms are no longer recognizable.
It is the accidental creation of something new what I find interesting.
I think this is an act that can be done easily in this age of advanced equipment.
It would be boring to just look at an ordinary photograph and draw it, and it would be impossible to surpass the masterpieces of the past."
