Zheng Chongbin studied in China before travelling to the United States where he received an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1991. He received his BFA from the Chinese Painting Department, Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Fine Arts), Hangzhou in 1984 and subsequently taught there from 1984 to 1988. Like many other contemporary Chinese artists, he is bi-cultural, spending his time between China and the US. His work reflects influences from both cultures, and his richly textured ink surface confronts issues of form as well as a loftier metaphysical dimensions. His recent projects include a commission for The Sand's Corporation at Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort in Singapore and a commission for the San Francisco Asian Art Museum.
