Biography : He lived in his homecountry until he moved to France to study, and he graduated in Licentiate in Laws in 1932. His first approach to art was through humor comics published in Rumanian progressive newspapers and magazines such as Adam and Cuvantul Liber. In 1941 he arrived to Cuba andin 1945 he became Cuban citizen. His first personal exhibition took place in the Havana Lyceum in 1949. In these years he got in contact with Gyula Kosice, founder of the Argentine group of concrete art Madi. In the early 1950´s he exhibited his Estructuras Pictóricas, (Pictoric Structures), thus propitiating a serious enquire on abstraction, as well as a renovation within the cuban context of visual arts of these years. Together with Martínez Pedro and Mario Carreño, he made up the triad of Cuban painters who sooner joined abstraction as a way of expression. His experiences in the field of kynetism begins with his transforming structures (1955-1956) reachint its highest expression with Cosmorama (1966). In 1960 he joined the group known as Diez Pintores Concretos. (Ten Concrete Painters), In the 1970´s he he outstood by making works for architectural and urban environments.
