    Biography : Hou Beiren was born in 1917 in Liaoning, China and graduated from Kyushu University, Japan in 1943. During his early years, he studied painting under Li Zhongchang, then with Huang Binhong and Zheng Shiqiao. Hou moved from Hong Kong to the United States in 1956 and settled in “Old Apricot Villa”, his home in Los Altos, California. For the next half century, Hou has been engaged in art creation and established his own unique and innovative “splash ink and color” painting style, which seamlessly integrated both Eastern and Western aesthetics. Hou is regarded as one of the most influential overseas Chinese artists to the transformation of Chinese painting.

    Exhibition : Hou’s works have been exhibited and collected throughout the US and internationally, including Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, San Jose Museum of Art, National Art Museum of China, Nanjing Museum, Zhejiang Art Museum, and Austria Museum of Modern Art. In 2004, the City of Kunshan in Jiangsu, China built Hou Beiren Art Museum to house 300 pieces of Hou’s donation containing his works and rare collections. In 2013, Liaoning Art Museum established Hou Beiren and Zhang Yunqin Gallery.

    Biography : Born in 1969 in Taiwan, Leroy Lee received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with Oil Painting Specialization in 1993 from Taiwan-Chinese Culture University, also pursued art and design in University of California Riverside in 1997. Subsequently he studied with world renowned artist and teacher of classical painting David Leffel. Currently he lives and works in Los Angeles. 

    Exhibition : Lee has had numerous exhibitions worldwide. Most recently, he was invited to exhibit at Salon d'Automne, Grand Palais, in Paris. He was also recognized among LICC London International Creative Competition in 2012. In the U.S., his work has been seen at Marietta Cobb Museum of Art in Georgia and Segerstrom Center for the Arts in California.

    Detailed Description : Lee’s work are manifestation of his perpetual exploration of the Eastern metaphysical spirit with Daoism, Confucianism and Western philosophy as its soul. Stillness and Motion are the two dominant elements in his work. He sees them as forms of existence for all things in the universe, in their extreme contrast and harmonious balance. By questioning the concept of stillness & motion, Lee tries to increase the dynamic between viewers and artist by objectifying emotions and investigating the duality that develops through different interpretations.

    Biography : Lu Chuntao was born in Chongming Island, Shanghai, in 1965 and studied art at Shanghai International Studies University from 1984 to 1986. He is currently vice principal of the Shanghai Calligraphy and Painting Institute, visiting painter at Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, member of the China Artists Association and the board of directors of the Shanghai Artists Association. His uninhibited use of water and ink, reveal his deep understanding of traditional concepts of using ink to represent color but also are in full command of the concepts of contemporary abstract expression.

    Exhibition : Lu Chuntao has had solo and group exhibitions at the Casares Museum, Italy, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Singapore, the Taipei World Trade Center, Taiwan, the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center, Korea, the National Agriculture Exhibition Center, Beijing, the Art Museum of Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, Shanghai, the Shenzhen Museum, Shenzhen, the RNHR Tower, Cologne, the Mannheim Museum, Mannheim and the National Art Museum of China, Beijing.     Biography : Wei Jia was born in 1957 in Beijing. Graduated with a B.F.A from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing (1984) and M.F.A. from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania (1987), Wei Jia currently works and lives between New York and Beijing, where he teaches at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

    Exhibition : Wei Jia has had numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally, including Central Academy of Fine Arts (Beijing), National Museum of Art (Beijing), Dadu Museum (Beijing),CU Art Museum University of Colorado at Boulder (Boulder, U.S.A.), Lincoln Center (New York), The Museum of Chinese in America (New York), Bruce Museum (Greenwich),etc. His works are in the public collections of The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia), Utah Museum (Salt Lake City) and the Dadu Museum (Beijing) and Brooklyn Museum (New York).

    Detailed Description : Chinese traditional painting and calligraphy has been an integral part of Wei Jia’s maturation as an artist. Wei Jia practiced calligraphy, Chinese painting and poetry from an early stage. He came to United States in 1985. The feeling of cultural displacement and co-existence of cultural identities led him to measure the influences from Eastern and Western cultures in his work. Wei Jia uses hand-made paper to make abstract collages. His process involves a rigorously repeated cycle of tearing, mounting and painting, which leaves the artwork full of serendipitous combinations which cannot be replicated. The final work is made of layers of ink, pastel, gouache and hand-made paper, encouraging the viewer to have a close look at the exceptional medium and make a journey within the artwork.

    Biography : Zhong Yueying was born in Heilongjiang, China in 1960 and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984 and Master of Fine Arts degree in 1991 from Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in China. Currently he is a guest professor of Luxun Academy of Fine Arts and lives California, United States.

    Exhibition : Zhong has held numerous solo exhibitions in China and internationally. In China, he has been invited to exhibit his works at Art Museum at Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University Art Museum, Shenyang University Museum of Arts and Zhongbai Art Museum. Internationally, Zhong has showed his paintings at Fontbonne University, William Wood University, Stephen College, University of Missouri, Saint Louis University Museum of Art, Missouri State Museum in the United States; College of Arts at Kyonggi University in Korea, and Taiwan University of Arts. Mr. Zhong has also won many awards, including the prestigious Wu Zuoren International Fine Art Exchange Foundation Award in 1991, and the Special Oversea Grand Prize at the Asian International Ink and Brush Painting Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan in 1993.

    Detailed Description : Zhong has published more than 70 articles in various art periodicals in Mainland China and Taiwan. He is also the author of four books: The Comparative Chronicles of Major Events in Chinese and Western Art History, Charm & Style, Breakthrough in Art Creativity and The Original Art Creation.
