Lilia Carrillo (Mexico 11-2-1930 - Mexico 6-6-1974)

Lilia Carrillo was since her youth familiar and involved with Mexican artists who were active in Mexico City. She started to study art in her teens and became student of the Mexican painter Manuel Rogríguez Lozano. Her early work is figurative, she went to Paris in the 1950s, it was there when she got influenced by Cubism, Surrealism, Expressionism and Abstraction. Carrillo worked in the tradition of Rupture movement during the 1950s and 1960s.
