Biography : Gao Qian (b. 1973, Nanjing, China), works and lives in Nanjing. She completed her master degree from the Nanjing Academy of Fine Arts of Chinese painting. She worked at Shanghai Museum. In 2016, she obtained her PhD from Chinese National Academy of Arts. She is currently working as a professional artist at the department of literature and art, Chinese National Academy of Arts. She is honored with the title of the National First - Class Artist

Detailed Description : Her works contain the appearance of ‘the thing’ which is always incessantly chattering in low voice at one's ear, like lullabies. Thick strongly fragrant colour and fine techniques have lure audience to slow down and listen to the painting. It has not rectified artificially, but lively, natural, and has eastern women's tenderness. Her works have the fine and smooth lines which did not indulge at all. Also have the colour which is refined and temperate and moist, consummate and calm and steady. In her idea of works, she said ‘I regard painting as a kind of solidified time, it is a mark that the emotion leaves in a certain time and space’, which makes her works possess a deep sense of time. As if the time has become eternity in her works.

Detailed Description : Shen Qin and Gu Wenda are both regarded as the “two masters of ink paintings in the ‘85 Movement”. Unlike Gu’s conceptual ink paintings, Shen's works have an obvious poetic and ancient flavor. His ink paintings express his own inner thoughts and convey the spirit of literati. Although Shen kept his paintings form away from the traditional Chinese paintings during the“85 Movement”, he was almost exactly the same as the literati. This new series of two paintings were on of the innovations from 2013 onwards. These works created a sense of the peaceful and fresh. Shen repeatedly layered black ink on paper to emphasis the depth. He kept some white space on paper. The white represents more than emptiness and loneliness, instead it gives a melancholic feeling. It shows Shen has steer away from the“85 Movement”and focused on a more intimate conversation with the audience through his ink paintings.

Biography : Wang Yefu (b. 1962, Xinjiang, China) works and lives in Shenzhen and Guangzhou. He graduated from the Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts.

Exhibition : 2017 WOLF Amy Li Gallery, Beijing, China

Detailed Description : Wang's creation invite us to look into his abstract conceptions, rigorous exigency for form, generalization of lines and structures, minimalist but subtle control of the image, spiritualized expression of the abstract space he appreciates the most, which is simple, straight or ward but also authentic in the extreme. He no longer applies the perspective law to his paintings, instead he accomplishes the spiritual discursive depiction with meaningful forms and subjective aesthetics instead; his abstraction is built upon the basis of non-representation. The form, media, space, color gamut, lines, lights and other forces together to fully output his abstract language. The unified representation of the positive and the negative concepts in the same pictorial space is also the phenomenal representation of the most vivid contrasts. The third period shows his current exploration for the individual spiritual space. The works of this period abandoned the design sense in the paintings and started to inquire the spiritual world generated from the artist's consciousness, in other words, spontaneity, introspection, innovation in standards and images. His aspiration for the unreal world of spirit has been formulated in a much more ideal way, silent, and simple yet profound.

Detailed Description : The basis of Ye’s creation is analyzing the images of methods, in which the freely dispersed appearances are transformed into visual structures. During his period of conceptualized abstraction, every pictorial construction has a figure of bird somewhat distinguishable for spectators; while staring at a close distance, those figures composed with T formed lines are in the contrary the decomposition of the figurative image of bird, in order to underlining the experiences of processing the creation. The seemingly hasty figures of birds are deliberately enhanced by the artist with those careless but detailed touches, which made the expressivity more outstanding, and introduced the remarkable opposition between complicated and easy-to-do into the pictorial surface, therefore formed his signature style.
