Andrea Galvani (Verona 1973 - )

Andrea Galvani was born in Verona, Italy, in 1973. He is an accomplished artist, who lives and works between New York and Mexico City. Galvani earned a BFA in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna in 1999 and his MFA in Visual Art from Bilbao University in 2002. He has been a visiting artist at NYU. In addition, Galvani has completed several artist residencies in New York City, such as Location One International Artist Residency Program, the LMCC Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and the MIA Artist Space Program/Columbia University School of the Arts.
Galvani is working on a solo show that will take place at the Museum MART (Trento) on October 2016. Galvani's work has been exhibited internationally, including: the Poznan Biennal, (2012), Aperture Foundation, New York (2012), Calder Foundation New York (2012), Moscow Biennal (2011), Central Utah Art Center Ephraim, USA (2011), Mart – Museo di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea Trento (2010), Museo Macro (Roma), GAMeC Bergamo (2010), De Brakke Grond Amsterdam (2009), Oslo Plads, Copenaghen (2007) Whitney Museum New York (2006) and the Unicredit Pavillion (Bucarest). In 2011, he received the New York Exposure Prize and was nominated for the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize. His works are in several public collections at: Aspen Contemporary Art Collection, New York; MART, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Collection AGI, Rovereto, Trento; MAXXI, National Museum of XXI Century Arts, Collection Claudia Gian Ferrari, Rome; MA*GA Museum of Contemporary Art, Permanent Collection, Gallarate; Library's Permanent Collection of Washington, Prints & Photographs Division, Washington; Unicredit Bank, New Young Collection, Milano;
